Accessibility
We want everyone who runs a charity's fundraising to be able to use Trovu, however they get around a website. This page says how well it works today, what we know isn't right yet, and how to tell us about a problem.
Last changed: 4 November 2026.
What this covers
This statement is for trovu.uk: the public pages, the Grant Finder, and the pages you use with a plan (Dashboard, Budget, Funders, Reports, Activity, People, Account and Your plan). Trovu is run by Trovu Ltd.
What you should be able to do
- Use every page with just a keyboard, and always see where you are on the page
- Skip straight past the menu to the main content
- Use Trovu on a phone without scrolling sideways
- Zoom in, and have the page rearrange to fit
- Turn off moving pictures with your device's "reduce motion" setting
- Read text that stands out clearly from its background
AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.
How accessible Trovu is
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 at level AA. Trovu is partially compliant: most of it meets the standard, but these parts don't yet.
- The line around text boxes on forms (signing in, Talk to us, Subscribe) is paler than it should be, so some people may find it hard to see where to type (WCAG 1.4.11, non-text contrast).
- On Budget, you can move a budget head or an item up and down with the arrow keys, but moving an item to a different budget head still needs dragging, and there's no way to move things with a single tap or click (WCAG 2.1.1, keyboard, and 2.5.7, dragging movements).
- The search box on the Grant Finder is marked up in a way that isn't strictly allowed (a box that can hold more than one line, labelled as a box with suggestions). Most screen readers handle it, but some may describe it oddly (WCAG 4.1.2, name, role, value).
- The PDF about Trovu for councils isn't tagged for screen readers. Everything in it is also on the councils page (WCAG 1.3.1, info and relationships).
We're working on these. If one of them gets in your way, write to us and we'll help you another way, for example by doing the step for you or sending the information in a form that works for you.
What isn't covered
- Paying: card payments happen on Stripe's own checkout page, and Stripe looks after its accessibility.
- Funders' websites we link to, and the grant information we read from them.
- The Trovu API and the assistants (such as Claude and ChatGPT) you can connect Trovu to.
Tell us about a problem
If something on Trovu doesn't work for you, or you need information in a different format, write to us. A person reads every message, and we'll reply within one working day.
Please tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and what you use to get around the web (a screen reader or a magnifier, for example), if you're happy to.
If you're not happy with our reply
Trovu Ltd is a private company, not a public body, so the Public Sector Bodies Accessibility Regulations 2018, and their enforcement by the Equality and Human Rights Commission, don't apply to us. We hold ourselves to the same standard anyway, and the Equality Act 2010 does apply. If you're not happy with how we respond, the Equality Advisory and Support Service can advise you.
How we tested it
We tested Trovu ourselves on 4 November 2026:
- Automatically, with axe (axe-core 4.10), against WCAG 2.2 A and AA and accessibility good practice, on a phone-sized screen (390 pixels wide) and a computer screen (1,280 pixels wide).
- By keyboard: the order things are reached in, the focus ring, the skip link, the menus, Search help, Share, the Toolbox and the account menu, and closing each with Escape.
- The pages tested were the home page, Plans and prices, the product pages, Talk to us, Help, the councils' example page, Subscribe, the Grant Finder, the example tour, Terms, Privacy and signing in; and, signed in with a plan, Dashboard, Budget, Funders, Reports, Activity, People, Account and Your plan.
We haven't yet had Trovu tested by disabled people or an outside expert. We check each new screen the same way before it goes live.
