Where our data comes from

Trovu is built on open data from public bodies and funders, and on funders' own websites. Here's where each part comes from and the licence it's under, with our thanks to those who publish it.

Grants open now

We read funders' own websites every day and put the facts in our own words, with a link to the page they came from.

Some come from Find a grant, Cabinet Office, under the Open Government Licence v3.0.

Charities

From the register of the Charity Commission for England and Wales. Contains public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0.

Past grants

Who has funded whom comes from 360Giving. Funders publish their own grants there, each under its own licence:

GrantNav's list of datasets shows who published each file and its licence.

We've changed these records: we put them in our own format, match them to charities and add them up to show who funds what. For the exact record, go to the original on GrantNav.

Places

Local areas and which ones are neighbours come from the Office for National Statistics, and postcode lookups from postcodes.io.

Can I rely on it?

It's a starting point, not a promise. Not every funder publishes its grants, and anything here can be out of date. Always check with the funder before you apply.

Can I reuse it?

The licences above let you reuse the data they cover, so go to the original publishers for it. Each record keeps its own licence. Our own words, checks and rankings are ours: see the Terms.
